From a must-attend folk festival to kid-friendly Halloween fun, here is a short list of exciting events happening in San Antonio and Texas Hill Country now through October. 

Jazz’SAlive

September 15 - 16
This beloved local event will celebrate 33 years of jazz in the newly renovated Travis Park. The two-day music fest will feature the nation’s top jazz performers, like Sammy Miller and the Congregation and Kevin Eubanks, along with regional and local talent. Visitors will be treated to live music on two stages, and delectable festival food from more than 20 local vendors. Art pieces from artists and craft vendors will help you pick the perfect souvenirs too.

Zoo Boo!

September 30 - October 29
It’s a fun, wholesome and non-scary daytime Halloween event for the entire family. Every Saturday and Sunday in October, the San Antonio Zoo will play host to Zoo Boo! Children ages 12 years and under are encouraged to put on their best Halloween costumes while they participate in contests, games, trick-or-treating and the hay maze. Other weekend activities include pumpkin painting and Monster Mash.

Boerne Oktoberfest

October 1
Enjoy a slice of Germany in the heart of Texas Hill Country. A fun and festive celebration of a Bavarian tradition, Oktoberfest is a not-to-be-missed cultural event dedicated to good food—think juicy bratwursts, reubens, pretzels, gulasch—and of course, German and Texas craft beers. Live polka music can also be enjoyed in the Olde Town Shopping Center, along with folk dancing. Close your eyes and you’ll think you’ve been transported to Munich.

The Key to the Hills Rod Run


October 14
A must-attend event for car enthusiasts, the 31st annual Key to the Hills Rod Run is not your typical classic car show. The exhibition, which imposes a cutoff at 1949 models and older, will feature 500 coupes, sedans and roadsters from all over the country. These vintage cars will be showcased on Main Plaza and throughout Downtown.

San Antonio Beer Festival 2017

October 21 
Enjoy servings of your favourite ales, stouts, porters, pilsners, belgians, wheats, lagers and ciders at the 12th Annual San Antonio Beer Festival. The largest Beer Festival in San Antonio will be pouring over 400 premium and craft beers from more than 125 breweries from around the world. The San Antonio Beer Festival will also feature a wine garden, live music, interactive games, food trucks and booths, local vendors and more. A portion of the San Antonio Beer Festival proceeds will benefit the San Antonio Food Bank.

Mala Luna Music Festival

October 28 - 29          
The Mala Luna Music Festival is a two-day event that will feature popular entertainers and homegrown artists alike. This year will feature an incredible line-up of artists, headlined by hip-hop chart toppers Future, Lil Wayne, Migos and Wiz Khalifa. Also performing at the festival are three amazing acts running the EDM world, Afrojack, Carnage and Borgore, along with up-and-coming R&B singers Kali Uchis and Khalid, among other talent. Fans will be happy to know that a portion of ticket sales will benefit the Network for Young Artists (NYA), a non-profit providing affordable music and dance to local youth.

Dia de los Muertos

October 28 - 29    
Translated from Spanish as "Day of the Dead," Día de los Muertos is a Mexican holiday that honors departed loved ones. Locals and visitors will converge on the city for the two-day celebration of dancing, artwork, a drum and puppet procession, the largest open air living altar in the city and plenty of live music and poetry at Arneson River Theater.
