Love (and Exceptional Cuisine) Is in the Air This Valentine’s Day at 12 of San Antonio’s Top Restaurants

Valentine's Day is the ultimate date night.

And San Antonio is the ultimate date city.

From the picturesque River Walk to the fairytale charm of old-world Spanish colonial architecture, there is no shortage of romantic vistas within the Alamo City.

But more than just a place known for its idyllic landmarks, San Antonio’s most romantic night of the year is best spent sampling the city’s world-class cuisine.

Steakhouses, Italian, and (of course) a wide variety of Mexican and Tex-Mex — there’s an abundance of dining options to elevate your Valentine's Day dinner from excellent to extraordinary.

So let’s take a romantic stroll through San Antonio’s dining scene and find the flavors that will satisfy you and your date's taste buds, assuring it’s an evening to remember.

Here are 12 of the best restaurants for Valentine’s Day dinner in San Antonio.

Valentine’s Day Menus

Dining out on Valentine’s Day is a long-standing tradition for a straightforward reason — letting someone else prepare the menu leaves you more time to focus on your loved one. There does remain the issue, however, of deciding what to eat from a vast menu of delicious options.

Thankfully, the following six restaurants are ahead of the game, offering either special menus or Valentine's Day deals.

1. Ruth’s Chris

Three Locations:
River Walk - 600 E Market Street, River Walk Grand Hyatt
North Airport - 7720 Jones Maltsberger, Concord Plaza
La Cantera Terrace - 17803 La Cantera Terrace, #8110

Few steakhouses do it better than Ruth’s Chris, one of the rare U.S. chains where the combination of service, food, and ambiance is consistent at every location. Residents in the Alamo City are fortunate to have their choice of three Ruth's Chris establishments — along the River Walk, in Concord Plaza near the airport, and the northernmost point of the city at La Cantera Terrace.

Each location will feature a week-long celebration of Valentine’s Day from February 6th to February 16th featuring either a Porterhouse Dinner for Two, starting at $129, or their Celebration Surf and Turf for $49.95 per person.

2. Meadow Neighborhood Eatery + Bar

555 West Bitters Road, Suite 110

One of the newest, and most popular, dining experiences in San Antonio is a delight for both seasonal foodies and those that crave genuine farm to table Southern Texas cuisine. Located in Artisans’ Alley in North San Antonio, the ambiance is perfect for those wanting a romantic night that’s a bit crafty and off the beaten path.

No stranger to a rotating menu, Meadow Neighborhood Eatery will highlight a Valentine's Day only, four-course menu for $50 per person.

3. Mimosa Restaurant and Lounge

14415 Blanco Road, Suite 105

French cuisine in the middle of South Texas? Absolutely. If it’s European flair and French elegance you crave for that most romantic of days, Mimosa is an absolute necessity. Tucked away in a nondescript strip center at the corner of Cadillac Drive and Blanco Road, the food is rich, colorful, and full of flavor, and the selection of French wines would impress the most discriminating sommelier.

On Valentine’s Day, Mimosa hosts a prix fixe dinner, including wine pairings.

4. Maverick Texas Brasserie

710 South St. Mary’s Street

Speaking of French fare, if you prefer brasserie-style with a Southern twist, you’ll find it in Southtown at Maverick Texas Brasserie. With a breezy, laid-back atmosphere, open kitchen, passionate staff, and an imaginative menu, it comes as no surprise that Maverick is one of the most celebrated new restaurants to open in San Antonio in the last half-decade.

A prix fixe menu is available February 14th for $75 per guest with optional wine pairing for an additional $45.

5. Las Ramblas at Hotel Contessa

306 West Market Street

Hotel Contessa. The name sounds romantic. Even better is the hotel’s prime location, with its Las Ramblas eatery nestled along the banks of the San Antonio River and the city’s famed River Walk. If you needed any more reason to book Valentine's dinner here, the patio has a front-row seat to the River Walk's famous Marriage Island.

The Las Ramblas chef will specially prepare a three-course meal priced for $45 per person for Valentine’s Day.

6. The Melting Pot

14855 Blanco Road, Suite 110

Let’s be honest, even if you’ve yet to partake in the unusual ritual of fondue, we're sure it's one of those food experiences you've long been curious to try. What better way to share a romantic night out than with melted cheese, chocolate, and cooking—no, fonduing—your meal.

Not convinced? You will be when seeing the Valentine's Day options for you and your date at The Melting Pot, including their four-course Sweetheart package for $134.95 or the $189.95 Romeo & Juliet package, which features a rose bouquet and chocolate-covered strawberries. If you really want to impress, then the Ultimate Valentine’s package at $259.95 should do the trick. It features roses, strawberries, champagne, priority seating, and a framed photograph of the evening.

Unique Valentine’s Experiences

Although they may not offer specially curated holiday menus or add-on touches, the following restaurants represent some of the most memorable food experiences in San Antonio. Excellent options for any night or occasion, snagging a table at one of these establishments on Valentine’s Day ensures the evening becomes something exceptional.

7. Supper American Eatery at Hotel Emma

136 East Grayson

Serenely situated along the San Antonio River in Hotel Emma (once a 19th-century brewhouse), Supper is proudly advertised as part farm table, part bistro. That well-executed combination produces a one of a kind experience — from the indulgent breakfast plates to the richly flavored lunch and dinner menus to the satisfyingly creative cocktails.

If you want to flip the script on February 14th, forget dinner and take your date to breakfast at Supper. They’ll fall in love with you all over again for it.

8. Antler’s Lodge

9800 Hyatt Resort Drive

For fans of the great outdoors, and by outdoors, we mean the Texas Hill Country and wild game, there’s no better choice for your Valentine's Day meal than Antler’s Lodge, located in the Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Spa. The decor and ambiance are decidedly Texas. Antlers are in abundance, including a massive chandelier featuring 500 sets of (naturally shed) antlers.

Proudly boasting a sustainably sourced menu that covers all paths to your plate—farm, range, and sea—you and your date should bring hearty appetites to savor the evening.

9. Evo

218 East Olmos Drive

Intimate and authentic, one of the newest restaurants in San Antonio is also one of its finest. Serving contemporary Mexican cuisine unlike anything else in the city, Evo operates intelligently from the mantra that less is more.

The main dining area only seats 30, and the menu is equally sparse, with every dish exquisitely crafted. You can order à la carte, or for a shared experience on February 14th, Evo features a multi-course tasting menu.

10. Ocho at Hotel Havana

1015 Navarro Street

In terms of sheer atmosphere, few places on this or any list can match the unique, one-of-a-kind aesthetic of Ocho and the adjacent Havana Bar. Housed in a glass conservatory as part of the equally charming Hotel Havana, Ocho highlights the fusion of Latin flavors from Cuba, Mexico, and Texas.

For romantic moments, Ocho and its laid-back menus, featuring brunch, breakfast, and lunch in addition to their all-day dinner fare, may not be an obvious choice, but it certainly will be a smart one.

11. Silo Prime and 12. Nonna Osteria

401 South Alamo in the Fairmont Hotel

At the storied, century-old Fairmont Hotel on South Alamo, stars a one-two punch of culinary delights — the swanky, modern wood and leather steakhouse of Silo Prime, and the light and airy, but no less opulent, Italian eatery Nonna Osteria.

Both restaurants handle their respective dishes with care and provide a perfect landing spot for Valentine's Day dining. And, with the night still young, they possess the perfect location too, a less than five-minute stroll to the River Walk.
