From Delicious Food Festivals to Relaxing Concerts, Don’t Miss These Activities Happening in Boerne This Summer

With a population of just over 16,000, Boerne may be small in size, but it is big in family-friendly activities and celebrations. Here’s just a sampling of the community events that locals and visitors can participate in this summer.

Farmers Market at the Cibolo

There’s no better way to savor the sweetness of summer than by picking up some fresh local produce at the farmers market. Held on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Historic Heff Farm, this is the to-go place to stock up on farm fresh eggs, fruit, vegetables, honey, jam, bread, and more. While perusing the produce stands, attendees can also enjoy live music, participate in gardening classes and cooking demonstrations, or try their hand at crafts. Luckily, the fun won’t end when the dog days of summer do--the farmers market is open through November.

Berges Fest

Soak up some German culture during this three-day festival, which is held from June 14th to 16th at the Kendall County Fairgrounds. Designed to honor the town’s German heritage, the festivities include a community parade, music, carnival rides, and dachshund races.

Moondance Concert Series

Kicking off on June 22nd at 7 p.m. at Cibolo Nature Center, this live concert will be held underneath the twinkling Texas stars. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own beer and picnics, as well as chairs and blankets. Student tickets cost $5; adult members of the nature center will pay $10, and non-members will pay $15.

Concert in the Cave for Summer Solstice

On June 22nd, you can welcome the summer solstice with an evening of acoustic songs, ancient instruments, and contemplation at the Cave Without a Name, which is distinguished as a National Natural Landmark. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $25 or at the door for $30. (Other concerts in the cave will take place throughout the summer as well.)

Hot Rod Nights

If you love classic cars and hot rods, this is the event for you. Taking place on Saturday nights at 6:30 p.m. at Soda Pops on Main Street, this event turns the town into an old-fashioned American block party. Come for the cars--stay for the live music.

Kendall County Fair and Rodeo

The 114th annual fair will be held August 29th through September 1st. There will be a slew of activities to enjoy, from agricultural events to a rodeo to a queen’s pageant. There will also be plenty of vendors selling food, jewelry, crafts, and more.
