We’re back for part two of our series on how to sell your home during the winter. Last time, we talked about two of the main benefits that a winter home sale brings. You can check that out here. This time we’re continuing our discussion with even more reasons to sell your home during the winter months. Here are the rest of our tips:
1. Make sure the price is right. There isn’t as much competition, but you still need to be priced correctly. Buyers are worried about overpaying when there’s not much to choose from. You don’t want to be that overpriced house; you want to be priced right so you sell quickly.
2. Make your home warm and inviting. In Sweden, it’s called “Hygge.” When you’re preparing your home in the winter, you don’t have those same bright flower beds and foliage that you have in the spring and summer. Consider putting a plant like a poinsettia on the front porch to make the home brighter and more inviting.
3. Don’t be afraid to decorate for the holidays. Keep it simple so you’re not overpowering buyers, but some nice holiday accents can help the buyer feel more at home.
4. Use horizontal lighting. Lamps, different mood lighting, and even candles with holiday scents can help illuminate your home, and make it more appealing to buyers.
If you make sure you decorate lightly, have a well-lit interior, great smells, and a good price, you’ll have a successful home sale. With low inventory and high demand, it’s a great time to take advantage of the market.
